Hmph. I offer two more verses from the Parable books by Octavia E Butler, since I'm not a writer myself. This is from her philosophy of Change, which I'm finding useful to cope with what is going on now. I will keep pushing for change in as many tiny, possible ways so that my existence will have made a difference. Hopefully.

Beware:

At war

Or at peace,

More people die

Of unenlightened self-interest

Than of any other disease.

from Parable of the Talents, by Otavia E. Butler, copyright 1998

and

All struggles

Are essentially

power struggles.

Who will rule,

Who will lead,

Who will define,

refine,

confine,

design,

Who will dominate.

All struggles

Are essentially

power struggles,

And most

are no more intellectual

than two rams

knocking their heads together.

Parable of the Sower, by Otavia E. Butler, copyright 1993

So now I need to get on the phone (once again) to demand that my elected officials stand up to stop this course of action, this stupid march toward war - not that they will listen. Unless the numbers of callers becomes too large to ignore. Hopefully.
