Thank you, Umair. I wasn’t going to read your post as lately they have felt dark. You caught me with your little one-eyed dog and I couldn’t stop reading and connecting. You described all that had transpired in my last week. In the midst of all the darkness, I stumbled into little points of light, beauty, truth, and communion. I realized how much I have been missing these most essential elements of life being distracted by all the business and noise. Thank you for being so observant and open to sharing your deep life.

Dear Umair,

I seem to recall that in the film noir "The American", a priest remarks that "Hell is a place without love." My own experience has confirmed (at least to me) the truth of that remark. If we flip that around, then a way to escape from Hell might be to start loving what is endangered, good, or beautiful. It is certainly worth trying.
