Let me tell you what the energy crisis was like in the 70’s.
Mind that my husband and I were a professional truck driver and RN. So we did ok.
I had a young family in the 70’s. We had to sell our cool loaded Pontiac Grand Prix that hub brought and was paid for.
We bought a Ford Escort standard better on gas and in the snow. Also a horrid little car.
So cheaply made you said a little prayer that the important parts for safety and function were better quality than the handles of my roll up windows.
My hub and his friend built a chimney and we used a wood stove to heat the house. I hung cloth diapers on the line outside even in winter in Massachusetts .
We laughed and called ourselves pioneers.
We kept the house and 72’ day and 68’ night per request of President Jimmy Carter.
We waited in lines, seriously long lines for gas. It was a bad day when it ran dry and you were next. It was also expensive.
We paid an aunt with a farm in NH to raise a hog and we ate pork for 2 years . Hamburger Helper was a treat and seemed delicious.
My kids did not eat at a restaurant until the 80’s . Not a hardship exactly.
I do wonder how folks will do today. We are a tad stretched already.
I say when they banks fail We are let the banks them fail and we ain’t propping them up this time.
We are propping up the people that were partners in making all of that money we should be benefiting a tad more from.
